Psychedelic Assisted Therapy

Working with non-ordinary states as part of trauma healing:

If years of talk therapy have given you insight but not relief, if you understand your story but still feel stuck in your body, your patterns, or your nervous system's response to the world, you may be a candidate for Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy (PAT).

PAT pairs a legal, medically supervised psychedelic experience with structured psychotherapy before, during, and after each session. The medicine isn't the treatment on its own. It's a tool that, for some people, temporarily softens rigid defenses and habitual thought patterns enough to make new material, insight, and emotional processing accessible,  material that can then be worked with in the therapeutic relationship, the way anything else in our work together is.

How It Works:

Preparation:

Before any medicine session, we build the foundation together: your history, your intentions, your relationship to control and vulnerability, and what safety looks like for you specifically. This groundwork is what determines whether the medicine session is actually useful, rather than just intense.

The Session:

Depending on the modality, this may involve altered perception, a loosening of ordinary defensive structures, and access to emotional or somatic material that's usually harder to reach. You're held throughout, physically safe, and with a trained clinician present the entire time. This is not something done alone.

Integration:

This is where the real work happens, and it's the step most often skipped by programs that aren't trauma-informed. In the days and weeks afterward, we process what surfaced, make sense of it, and most importantly, translate it into how you actually live, relate, and respond to old triggers. Without integration, a profound experience can just become a memory rather than a lasting shift.

Is this right for you?

You might be a good fit if:

  • You've done real therapeutic work already and feel like you've plateaued

  • You're medically and psychiatrically cleared, and ready to commit to preparation and integration, not just the session itself

  • You want to explore this as one part of an ongoing therapeutic relationship, not a standalone experience

  • You're looking for a clinician who understands trauma physiology and won't rush the process

If you're not sure, that's a fine place to start. A consultation is the best way to figure out whether this approach, and which modality, if more than one is available to you, fits your history and your goals.

What It's Not:

- Not a quick fix, and not a substitute for the ongoing therapeutic relationship. The medicine can open a door, but you and I do the walking together, before and after.
- Not appropriate for everyone. We'll screen carefully for medical and psychiatric contraindications: certain cardiac conditions, active psychosis or bipolar I in some cases, certain medications, pregnancy, etc before any session is scheduled.
- Not something to pursue outside a legal, supervised setting. The risks of unsupervised or underground use, medically and psychologically, are real, and they're a different category of experience from clinical, trauma-informed care.

My training and approach:

I hold a Natural Medicine Clinical Facilitator-In Training License through Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies, which allows me to legally facilitate psilocybin sessions within a licensed healing center. Psilocybin sessions with me are held at Rose Healing Center, a licensed healing center I'm currently contracted with, where the space, safety protocols, and on-site medical support meet state regulatory requirements. Preparation and integration sessions take place with me in my regular practice setting. The healing center is specifically where the psilocybin administration session itself occurs.
